Horse riding at HDN Academy: History

It has now been over eight years since we established our horse riding + studies division in partnership with the le Centaure equestrian centre in Nîmes.

Our various training programmes

Pupils joining the riding studies stream can do so with their own horse (owner), can rent a horse (renter), or use a club horse.

Transport from the HDN Academy to the le Centaure equestrian centre is of course provided every day (by minibus).

We offer 2 benchmark programmes which enable us to create plans tailored to each pupil:

  • Excellent sports + studies: over 5 half-days per week

    • 10 sessions per week, so 2 sessions on horseback per half-day, competition coaching included

    • 8 sessions per week, 5 of these being on the pupil’s own horse and 3 on another horse, competitions coaching included

    • 5 sessions per week so one session on horseback per day

  • Sport & school programme: over 4 half-days per week, in riding club, competitions coaching not included

    • 12 hours of classes per week

    • 6 hours of classes per week

Prospects: elite level and a very broad range of opportunities...

The experience and expertise of the teaching staff means it is possible to accompany any riders that request it to the biggest national and international events.

But future prospects are not limited to the Elite Level.

Stimulating interactions with the various individuals involved in the sport at the Centaure and at competitions may lead to pupils developing vocations and interests in professions such as: Vet, osteopath, track judge, saddlery designer etc.
